Each person who is certified or registered by the Board must, as a condition of each renewal of the certificate or registration, provide proof of completion of at least 11 hours of continuing education in one or more courses approved by the Board.

A person who holds more than one certificate or registration issued by the Board is required to complete the continuing education requirements only once during each biennial period. Proof of completion by any such person must be submitted with each renewal application.

A person certified or registered by the Board who is also certified under Chapter 468, Part XII, F.S., as a building official, inspector, or plans examiner shall be required to complete the continuing education requirements only once during each biennial period.

If your license was issued less than 12 months prior to August 31st of the renewal year, you do not owe any continuing education. If your license was issued more than 1 year, but less than 2 years, prior to August 31st of the renewal year, you owe continuing education as follows:

Certified Electrical Contractors = 5 hours of Continuing Education
1 hour workers’ compensation
1 hour workplace safety
1 hour business practices
1 hour Florida Laws & Rules
1 hours of Technical (for all certified electrical contractors who perform alarm work the 1 hour Technical credit should be false alarm prevention)

Registered Electrical Contractors = 5 hours of Continuing Education
1 hour workers’ compensation
1 hour workplace safety
1 hour business practices
1 hour Florida Laws & Rules
1 hour of Technical

Certified and Registered Alarm Contractors = 4 hours of Continuing Education
1 hour workers’ compensation
1 hour workplace safety

Certified and Registered Specialty Contractors = 4 hours of Continuing Education

A person initially licensed for less than 12 months prior to the end of a biennial period need not complete any continuing education as a condition of renewal.

If you have more than one ECLB license, you do not need to take more classes.  Gray Systems, Inc. will report our classes for credit on all of your licenses.
All Electrical Contractor licenses renew by August 31st of years ending in an even number.
Electrical contractors are required to complete 11 hours of board approved continuing education for each two year license period. You will owe education in the following:

Certified Electrical Contractors = 11 hours of Continuing Education
1 hour workers’ compensation
1 hour workplace safety
1 hour business practice
1 hour Florida Laws & Rules
1 hour Florida Building Code advanced module course
6 hours Technical
Additionally, 2 hours false alarm prevention is required for all certified electrical contractors who perform alarm work

All Continuing education providers are required to report continuing education attendance within five business days of your course date.  We know that your license depends on our report to the state, so we try to report your class on the next business day.
