The Unlicensed Activity Program within DBPR exists to serve the state of Florida by vigorously examining compliance issues, comprehensively educating consumers about unlicensed activity and thoroughly investigating complaints against unlicensed contractors. Pursuant to Florida Statutes, DBPR collects $5 from licensees during the initial licensure and renewal periods to aid in the combat of unlicensed activity.
- · The “Report Unlicensed Activity” function was added to the DBPR Mobile app, which allows Floridians to file a complaint, with up to three photos, directly to DBPR in real time from their smartphones.
- · Last Fiscal Year 2014-2015, which began July 1, 2014, DBPR had received 2,557 complaints against unlicensed contractors and had issued 1,590 Notices to Cease and Desist against these unlicensed contractors.
- · DBPR works to maintain the integrity of its licensed professions through proactive enforcement efforts, sweeps and stings, and educating the public at outreach events. Since July 1, 2015, DBPR has conducted 517 outreach events, 473 sweeps and 26 stings across all of its licensed professions.

Floridians are asked to report any suspected unlicensed activity by email to ULA@myfloridalicense.com, calling the Unlicensed Activity Hotline at 1(866) 532-1440 or by downloading the free DBPR Mobile app. Unlicensed activity may be reported anonymously through the hotline and the mobile app; however, please keep in mind that email is subject to public record.
